Yes, I was one of those who woke up at 4:30 this morning to watch the Royal Wedding of Prince William & Kate Middleton.
Was it worth it? Yes!! I simply adore Kate's wedding dress - minus the dip in the front neckline. Other then that her dress was pretty much my style - simple yet classic. And here's to hoping that wedding dresses with sleeves will come into vogue again.
The moment I saw Kate in her wedding dress, I immediately thought that her dress had some similarities to Grace Kelly's wedding dress. Which by the way, is another favorite wedding dress of mine. :)
Here is a comparison picture for y'all. Look at the lace overlay and the sleeves.
If you are wanting to copy Kate Middleton's dress may I recommend Vogue 2979.
Did you watch the Royal Wedding? What did you think of Kate's dress? What was your favorite part?
I thought Kate's dress was pretty but not quite her style. I was hoping she'd wear something not so traditional. When I found out it was an Alexander McQueen I was a bit shocked because those designs are always so avant garde.
ReplyDeleteI think her dress was beautiful though I would have made it a bit different in the neckline area too.
ReplyDeleteI like the lace long sleeves... so feminine and refreshing compared to the current fascination with strapless.
I have always loved that vogue pattern.:)
That's the first thing I thought when I saw her dress... "GRACE KELLY modernized!" I've always loved that Vogue pattern, and have wanted to use that style, but modified, for some time. Before now, Grace was my wedding dress inspiration, but Kate's is almost exactly (minus the neckline dip!) what I want in my wedding dress! I'm hoping right along with you that sleeves will come back in style on wedding dresses :)
ReplyDeleteI found this dress a while ago and thought if i could fix the neckline, it'd be a good possibility:

Hi! I happened upon your blog looking up a picture of Grace Kelly's wedding dress and what a lovely find! Not only was Narnia music making a imperious and exciting intro, but I found a collection of things I love! Especially sewing patterns!!!!! Also, by a fellow Homeschool graduate!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to following your blog and searching through your archives!

ReplyDeleteCame upon your blog and wanted to comment on the wedding and other items. What some may not realize is the God given desire for us all to want these pretty things, because of our Prince, Jesus Christ. It has long been tradition that mothers handed down to daughters the desire for being taken care of by prince charming. It is the most godly thing to desire the calling for keeper-at-home, so it delights me to find other young ladies like my own daughter who is waiting on the Lord to answer the calling by learning how to be home first in their father’s home, preparing for the day God allows them to have their own home. We pray for God to also be preparing young men to answer the call to provide. God bless you.

I actually thought Diana's dress was better and more fitting for a royal wedding.
